If you master this important technique, you will assuredly be amazed at the difference this can make to client progress. The applications are quite broad because it excels at rapid elimination of unwanted thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. This includes illogical beliefs and flawed perceptions.
Imagine how the therapeutic journey could be enriched when none of these things impede progress, when the client no longer has to try to talk themselves out of these problematic or maladaptive responses because they simply no longer feature and the client is no longer experiencing life (or therapy) through those filters.
That’s what SDR Therapy can do, and why it’s so critical to at least begin to implement it into your clinical practice.
Tutorial 3 included a video and description of this specific SDR Therapy technique, and now in this video I walk you through the execution of the technique. I encourage you to review Tutorial 3, and if you haven’t already, download the support documention.
Why use SDR Therapy
The major difference between SDR Therapy and other modalities such as CBT and its variants is that SDR Therapy is the only psychotherapy in existence today which is founded on verified mechanisms. Every other therapy is essentially merely a philosophical framework based on how one guru or another imagined the mind might work. Not one is able to point to evidence that (a) there is any reality to the framework, or (b) that it “works” any better than the therapeutic alliance alone.
So SDR Therapy is a rarity, and my provision of free training is to hopefully dramatically speed the abandonment of what I regard as deeply flawed and inefficacious therapies, and the mass acceptance of the world’s first truly verified, reliable therapy strategy.
Other SDR Therapy techniques
Any technique which simultaneously triggers a specific conditioned stimulus, together with an entirely different stimulus, will disrupt the reconsolidation phase of a conditioned response, effectively extinguishing the response.
The Disruption Triangle is just one example. Others are:
NeuroStim, which can accommodate a very wide variety of sensory stimulation.
Overlay, which relies on establishing two very different conditioned responses which can then be triggered simultaneous.
Logotherapy (just a single application amongst this broad and often controversial paradigm) where the person simultaneously experiences two different realities.
GaugeWork, which uses imagined experience to disrupt conditioned responses.
I’m of two minds how best to present these to you, and currently thinking that placing these five techniques into a single volume in the free downloadable series may be best. That way during this training program I can simply refer to them and they’ll be easy for you to find.
Getting support for learning and integrating SDR Therapy into your practice
I wish I could provide this for free as well, but as you no doubt realise that is not only impractical, but would quickly become a mess, with people dropping in and out, and me putting my heart and soul into a pointless exercise.
So if you really want to learn to use these techniques skillfully, consider upgrading to one of the paid subscriptions to enjoy the support mentioned in the video. For some tiers this will mean personal emails, and even uploading your own demonstration of the technique for debrief/critique. I really look forward to working together to take SDR Therapy to the world.
What’s coming next
The focus of this training program is treatment of non-malignant chronic pain without sufficient explanatory pathology - something like 94-96% of chronic pain presentations according to the latest Deloitte Report commissioned by Pain Australia.
But don’t for a moment think this is the only application for the program because as you’ll shortly see, and as described in the book “Treat Your Own Chronic Pain: The Chronic Pain Bible for Doctors, Psychologists, and Clients”, the applications are extremely broad, and given the complexity of these chronic pain presentations, we need to cover as many of these as possible.
Enjoy!
